I build ’em, you block ’em.

Banner Ads get a bad rap, but they’re amazing fun to work on. Each ad is a technical challenge wrapped up in 150kb (smaller than a Word doc). Some are little videos, others are full websites jammed into 300×250 pixels. And … I’ve built a great many of them.

This was a YouTube masthead where I parsed a Spotify playlist and created a curated tracklist that corresponds with the timestamps of a YouTube video. Like a “mashup”. The challenge here was that, at the time, Spotify didn’t have any documentation on their playlist feeds, I just had to wing it.
